Jennifer Locke Whetham is English faculty at Clark College in Vancouver, Washington.
Jen’s favorite word is recursion (the quick and dirty definition is “anything that begins with re-“) and when in the classroom, she enjoys using metaphors like fractals, spiderwebs, and spirals (all physical manifestations of recursion) for writing and for life. As she practices yoga daily, Jen also likes to incorporate stories from her yoga practice into her teaching practice.
Jen is dedicated to using emergent technologies like WordPress in the F2F classroom, not only to remix classic process pedagogy and prepare her students for jobs that do not yet exist, but also to build connection. Her intention, as an educator, is to build connection on three levels: connection between the students and the material being covered, connection between herself and the students, and connection between the students themselves.
